Beijing Confirms Two Chinese Kidnapped in Nigeria

China's Foreign Ministry has confirmed that two Chinese citizens were kidnapped in Nigeria Saturday. Nigerian authorities say the Chinese, along with a Nigerian colleague, were abducted from a factory in Nnewi, in the south central state of Anambra.

A spokesman in Beijing Tuesday urged the Nigerian government to "exert all efforts" to rescue the kidnapped. This is the third time this year that Chinese citizens have been abducted in Nigeria. The two other incidents occurred in the oil-producing Niger Delta region, where such kidnappings have become common.
